Usually on 18th / 19th March the Festa di San Giuseppe is celebrated in a number of towns in the Salento area. Typical salento dishes are offered to friends, famiily and visitors. The main dish (of which there are many variations) is the 'massa of Saint Guiseppe', a special type of pasta, only cooked at this time of year. Festas are held in Guirdignano, Giuggianello, Cassiano and Uggiano.
