January

The year starts off during the first week in January in Ostuni, with the Procession of the Maggi, a resplendent parade of the Three Kings on horseback accompanied by shepherds and their flocks.
Deliverance from the plague of 1691 is celebrated during the second week, at Castellana Grotto where more than 50 large bonfires are lit.
More celebrations featuring what is said to be the largest bonfire in Europe take place at Novoli in the middle of the month. Fireworks and food stalls help to celebrate the Patron Saint Antonio.
Sant Antonio is also celebrated in the charming historic centre of Ceglie Messapica in mid January.
