Puglia Vacation Villas
Planning your vacation? Then, consider Puglia, Southern Italy. Right down on the heel of the boot, Puglia is just about as far south as you can go in Italy. Long a holiday destination for Italians now you can discover the secrets of Puglia. This is your chance to experience Italian life as the Italians live it. If you crave the heat of the southern sun and the warmth of the southern Italians this is the place for you.
But don't expect noisy nightclubs, all-day breakfasts, fish and chips, roast dinners. This is not Ibitha, Tenerife or other well known tourist hot spots. Neither is it the South of France. Sometimes shabby, some what down at the heel in places, this is the real Italy. Here you will find acres of peaceful olive groves, sandy beaches, rocky coastlines, amazing architecture, years of history, restaurants from the simple trattoria to the more up-market masseria (and the food is excellent at both).
All our villas are situated on the edge of the Salento peninsula, ideally located to tour the whole of Puglia. Lecce, the Florence of the South, is close by and with a well developed road network, every place you might want to visit is within easy reach. With Alberobello (home of the trulli), Castellana Grotto, Castel del Monte and much more to the north; Ostuni, the white city, Ceglie Messapica, Cisternino and other historic towns inland to the west; Otranto, the Alimini Lakes to the south, Santa Maria di Leuca at the very southern most tip where the Adriatic Sea meets the Ionian Sea, Gallipoli and Taranto on the Ionian coast .... all within easy reach. You won't be short of places to visit.
Alternate your sight-seeing days with time relaxing on the nearby beach, or by the private pool. Soak up the sun, relax with a good book, catching up on the reading you never have time for back at home. And just in case you find you have finished all the books you brought with you, you'll find a selection of english books in your villa. We have plenty more in our library that you can borrow if you don't find anything to suit you.
Want to be a little more active, we can help arrange all sorts of sporting and other activities for you, and arrange for the hire of cycles. For something a little more different we can arrange Italian cooking demonstrations / lessons, wine-tasting, olive-oil tasting, tours of markets, an introduction to the Italian language .....
Now you're into holiday mode, after a "hard" day by the pool or on the beach or visiting the region, it's time to chill out some more. Dine out at the local pizzeria or trattoria, or for something special at one of the restored masseria. Feel like eating in, or al fresco? All our villas have outside eating area and BBQ facilities. The kitchen offers more than your typical holiday rental. With ample storage space, dishwasher and microwave as well of course as the hob, oven and fridge-freezer, if your fancy turns to creating your own Italian feast, everything is at hand. And for a low maintenance meal you can order freshly cooked frozen meals provided by the Puglia Chef, our own local Italian chef. Or order up a freshly cooked, delivered to your villa, authentic Puglian meal from the Puglia Chef.
If you fancy a quiet evening in or have small children asleep, in the comfortable living area you will find a tv of course, and also a dvd player with a selection of english language dvds. And if you can't find one you like from the selection we have provided, check the dvd list, we have over 400 dvds available for you to borrow.
So now you have made your decision, just choose your villa, book your flights or train tickets, and your hire car. We've made it easy, just follow the links on the right. Once you've booked we provide comprehensive directions, meet you close to your villa, accompany you to the villa and show you round. You will find a comprehensive guide to both your villa and the area in the villa. If that's not enough, we're available during your stay to help with anything you need.
And don't worry about using up your precious luggage allowance with basics. We supply bed linen of course, but also towels for the bathroom and the beach/pool, and there are hairdryers in every villa. On your arrival you will find your Welcome Basket waiting for you. As well as the usual basics you will find home made goodies such as lemonade, limoncello, marmalades, chutneys and pickles - there's always everything you need for a light supper and continental breakfast on your first evening / morning. We can also shop ahead for you and stock up the fridge and store cupboards, just let us know what you need.
We look forward to wishing you "Benvenuto in Puglia!" (Welcome to Puglia).
